Hi Amanda,
We have a question regarding split packets and endorsing. We are currently trying to endorse a script for pregabalin. We are paying over tariff and the brand we are using (Relonchem) doesn’t have a price on the DMD. The packet size is 84 and we pay £6.86 a box. The script is for 112. So when endorsing with the price in the left hand column are we supposed to work out the total paid and endorse as 112 tablets given, or would we say 1 x 84 at £6.86 then 1 x 28 at £2.29. Hope this makes sense as a question. Any help you could offer would be appreciated. Hi There, So, for a prescription for 112 Pregabalin You would put the pack price which is £6.86 Then endorse 112/2 x 84 Prescription services will work out the rest. All they need to know is the pack price. Hi Amanda Happy New Year to you, hope you are keeping well? Our Drs have at last started to prescribe more things generically, but I have a question regarding HRT Vagifem and Vagirux are now being prescribed as Estradiol 10mcg pessaries Utrogestan is now being prescribed as Progesterone micronised 100mg capsules On the list of HRT medication Vagifem, Vagirux and Utrogestan is listed as being accepted with the HRT Prepayment However, the generic forms of all three items are not, only listed under the ingredients. I’ve looked at the wording in Part XVI about the HRT, and it sounds as though they are covered! However, I wonder if you would be so kind as to confirm this for me? Happy New Year to you too. Couple of things to discuss: If you prescribe Estradiol pessaries generically, then the generic needs to be dispensed. Both branded versions need to be on branded script. The generic Estradiol has been over tariff for a while now – best profit is Vagirux script then purchase Vagirux from Alliance – gets 20% discount. If you are prescribing Progesterone, then the generic needs to be dispensed – shop around to purchase Progesterone under tariff price. With regard to the HRT PPC, the Tariff does state that generic prescriptions are acceptable Hi Amanda, Historically we have always endorsed Sertraline 25mg in the left-hand column. The reason being is that they were always returned to us in the re-submission pile from Prescription services. The only brand we have used has been Zentiva and so this is what we now endorse- is this the correct process? I hope this makes sense? HI 😊 So up until aprox 18 months ago, Sertraline 25mg was not in the tariff, but then it was added to the database (Tariff). So prior to that you would have had to endorse the prescription with pack size, price paid and manufacturer or it would get returned. It doesn’t need any endorsement now as it is in the tariff unless it starts to be a Generic over Tariff. |
