March Drug Tariff News

 Additions to Part 2

There have been zero additions to Part 2 in the March Drug Tariff.

Generally, items which fall into Part 2 of the Drug Tariff have no wholesaler discount, you are potentially dispensing at a loss. You may consider sending the prescription away to a local Pharmacy to be dispensed.

Additions to Part 8a

4 items have been added to Part 8a of the March Drug Tariff. Ones which I think you will find of interest are:

  • Calcifediol 266microgram capsules have gone into the Drug Tariff with 2 pack sizes – 1 and 3. Both pack sizes are sitting as a Category C and the reimbursement price is based on Domnisol. Currently it is only available through Alliance and PSUK. Alliance is offering a Manufacturing discount of 15% through Forte.
  • Daridorexant 50mg tablets has gone into the Drug Tariff with a pack size of 30 and the reimbursement price is based on Quviviq. Currently this product is solus with AAH only.
  • Lorazepam 250microgram tablets has gone into the March Drug Tariff as a pack of 28 and the reimbursement price is based on Genesis Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Please be aware this is a Schedule 4 Part 1 drug and the prescription is only valid for 28 days.
  • Riluzole 50mg orodispersible films, Category C, pack size 56 has gone into the March Drug Tariff. The reimbursement price is based on Emylif. Currently appears to be only available with Alliance and AAH.

Deletions to Part 8a

There have been zero deletions to Part 8a in the March Drug Tariff.

As a reminder Items which have been removed from the Drug Tariff part 8A can still be prescribed and dispensed but you will need to endorse the prescription with manufacturer, pack size and price paid.

Other Changes to Part 8a

4 items are listed in ‘Other Changes, ones which you may find of interest are:

  • Bupivacaine 25mg/10ml (0.25%) solution for injection ampoules and Bupivacaine 50mg/10ml (0.5%) solution for injection ampoules both have remained as a Category C but the reimbursement price is now based on Aspen Pharma Trading Ltd and the reimbursement price has increased slightly.
  • Clotrimazole 10% cream and Clotrimazole 2% cream again has remained as a Category C item, the price has stayed the same at £11.07 but Canesten Combi Internal /External has been removed as the brand who the reimbursement price is based on. As a reminder this product would attract 2 dispensing fees but only one levy is due to the patient.
  • Vitamins A and D capsules BPC 1973 again have remained as a Category C but Alliance Healthcare Distribution Ltd has been removed as the manufacturer who the reimbursement price is based on. The reimbursement price has remained the same at £8.42.
