Additions to Part 2

There have been 3 additions to Part 2 in the September Drug Tariff and these 3 are listed below:

  • Atorvastatin 20mg/5ml oral suspension sugar free
  • Glecaprevir 100mg / Pibrentasvir 40mg tablets
  • Levorol 5mg/ml oral solution

Generally, items which fall into Part 2 of the Drug Tariff have no wholesaler discount, you are potentially dispensing at a loss. You may consider sending the prescription away to a local Pharmacy to be dispensed.

Additions to Part 8a

There has been zero items added to the September Drug Tariff!

Deletions to Part 8a

12 items have been deleted from Part 8a of the September Drug Tariff- ones which I think you will find of interest are:

  • Isosorbide dinitrate 40mg modified-release tablets, more commonly known as Isoket Retard 40 has been removed from the September Drug Tariff. This was discontinued in April 23.
  • Sterculia 62% / Frangula 8% granules 7g sachets gluten free, more commonly known as Normacol and Normacol Plus. Again these were both discontinued in April 23 apparently due to the ongoing difficulties in sourcing the key raw ingredient.
  • Tramadol 400mg modified-release tablets, more commonly known as Zamadol 24hour has been removed from the September Drug Tariff. This was discontinued in May 2023. Zamadol SR capsules are still listed in the Drug Tariff.

Items which have been removed from the Drug Tariff part 8A can still be prescribed and dispensed but you will need to endorse the prescription with manufacturer, pack size and price paid.

Other Changes to Part 8a

3 items are listed in ‘Other Changes, ones which you may find of interest are:

  • Indapamide 1.5mg modified-release tablets has remained as a Category C item but the brand Natrilix has been removed as the brand who the reimbursement price is based on. The reimbursement price is still £3.40 but this item can be purchased generically for as little as .72p.
  • Lidocaine 100mg/10ml (1%) + (2%) solution for injection ampoules have both moved from a Category A to a Category C and the reimbursement price is now based on Hameln Pharma Ltd.
  • Propranolol 160mg modified-release capsules has remained as a Category C but the brand Beta-Prograne has been removed as the brand who the reimbursement is based on. The reimbursement has remained at £4.88 – this can be purchased for as little as £3.48.
